Exploring the ‘Clip’ feature at Amplify

I thought I’d try clipping items from my Amplify News-feed. Then, I noticed that I could ‘clip’ the comments as well as the body of the item.

After I had selected the individual items from the page, I clicked on ‘done’ at the to of the page and noticed that I could actually select which of my listed social pages I want to push this item too. This post will go to Posterous.com, and then be auto posted to Buzz. I’m hoping that the profile pics are displayed in Buzz.

In any case, I thought it would be a good idea to show how threads are displayed on Amplify.

Mobile phones the new cigarette?  -
This article was a little disturbing. Couldn’t help but think there is some truth to this idea. If it is true, in terms of the cigarette analogy, I’d consider myself at least a pack a day smoker…

Just as parents now tell their kids that, believe it or not, there was a time when nobody knew that cigarettes and tanning were bad for you, those kids may grow up to tell their kids that, believe it or not, there was a time when nobody knew how dangerous it was to hold your phone right next to your head and chat away for hours.

We’re living in the cloud, in a force field, so afraid of being disconnected and plunged into a world of silence and stillness that even if scientists told us our computers would make our arms fall off, we’d probably keep typing.

Oh bleh. Another day, another scare article about technology. How about the NYT worrying about no longer being relevant in a digital world and the editors feeling terrorized by the ubiquitous cell phone.

The author’s drama aside, the topic of the piece did catch my attention. Definitely made me think about the possible long term effects but I can’t see myself altering current usage other than maybe an ear piece. @Melissa Yes, I think the Times and every other traditional news org needs to think about how they plan on staying relevant…
